Tot School - week 2

We are starting preschool next week, we will have a week to learn about school before we start our letter of the week curriculum. None the less this week we continued with "official" Tot School activities:

I introduced Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (Book& CD) and the Tot Folder we made to go along with it. Cricket LOVED it, we read the book at least 5 times just on day one. When daddy got home that night she excitedly started telling him about it saying Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. He was confused, but I was impressed! I got my tot folder resources from:
Carisa at 1+1+1=1 and Confessions of a Homeschooler

We traced her out on a large sheet of paper and she colored it in. We were discussing some of the body parts and Cricket remembered her birth mark. Se decided it needed to be a part of the picture and did a pretty good job of drawing it and placing it correctly. The overall coloring is kind of a mess though!

Cricket worked on cutting and gluing. I'm going to have to make more of an effort here. She loves doing these crafty projects, and needs more practice on holding and using the scissors correctly.

Cricket also sang the alphabet song correctly, including all the letters, for the 1st time. I was so proud of her!

My camera broke mid week =( Hopefully it will be repaired and returned to me soon! Post camera break and minus pictures we did the following activities:

Cricket did her first 48 piece puzzle, which required a little assistance.

We had our last week of summer gym & swim lessons.

I got the LeapFrog - Letter Factory DVD this week, and Cricket LOVES it! She also continued with her Hooked on Phonics resources and covered the letters V & W.

To work on colors we played her Sesame Street Bingo Game. A square is identified by color and character. Sesame Street 3 in 1 Game Set (Checkers / Go fish / Bingo)

Cricket was once again mesmerized by me applying make-up, which rarely happens by the way. I took advantage of having her full attention and had her name the parts of my face I was applying make-up to. I even added a couple we hadn't discussed previously (eye lid & forehead).

That was our week to see what others are doing head over to
Tot School

  1. I love that you traced her body! What a great way to teach a child about body parts. I'm sure she will just love preschool! We're starting our daughter in a two day program next fall.

  2. Both of my girls seem to know when I'm putting on my makeup because before I even dump all of my makeup out of the case, they are right there beside me trying to open everything and put on blush. It's cute, but they are usually dressed before me, which means I usually have to clean them up again because they will have smudges of eyeshadow on their cheeks. I've been wanting to get the Letter Factory DVD. I've heard so many wonderful things about it. I think I've finally made up my mind...I've got to get it.

  3. Your chicka chicka folder looks like it came out fabulous. That's still one of my favorite books to read to the kids, even though my kidlet is really "too old" for it, and my baby not old enough to get it yet ;)
