My first Ultimate Blog Party!

My blog reader was full of posts today about the Blog Party over at 5 Minutes For Mom called Ultimate Blog Party. I of course, went to check it out, and decided to join in the fun. If you like to party and make new friends you have got to head on over there too.

I started my blog in the fall when I "officially" began pre-schooling my daughter at home. I choose the name A Class of Her Own, in honor of my only child. It seems a rare thing to have a home-schooled only child, which brings it's own unique challenges and rewards. Seriously, I know ONE other family of an only child that is home-schooling.

I try to post a weekly wrap-up of our letter of the week activities, and I love sharing what we are reading each week as well. You can so our progress so far here. I try to keep the blog school related, but sometimes I include other goodies about my sweet daughter. If you look around I'm sure you will see a Tiny Talk post or one of my Monday with Mimi posts.

Monday with Mimi is a reflection on the time that my daughter gets to spend with my mother most Mondays. I am blessed enough to have an employer that let me transition to working from home the day I went on maternity leave, but I still have to attend our weekly staff meetings on Mondays. Enter my incredible mother, who watches Cricket for me on those days. Since they have had this time together since Cricket was an infant they have a very special bond AND my mom picked right up on me schooling Cricket and joined in the fun.

If you are here from the party I invite you to stay for a while, get to know me a little, and leave a comment.  I  would love for you to follow my blog and my twitter if you are interested.

Blessings
Katie

  8. @Christina

I love borrowing ideas from others myself, since I'm not the most creative individual.

  10. Hi Katie - stopping from the party. Am very interested in reading more from your blog. I've got a 3yr old that I've been trying to figure out how to do some more structured "home-schooling"/teaching with. So really looking forward to reading your experiences.

  13. Hi! Visiting via the UBP11. I don't homeschool my 3-1/2 yr old but I like to keep our options open. Right now, he goes to the Early Childhood Special Ed school in our area for half a day Monday thru Thursdays. My 11-month old gets to have me all to herself when her big brother is at school.

  14. Nice to meet you! I've been pretty late in making the rounds at the party, but wanted to come over and say hello.

I'm always intrigued by parents who homeschool, which is wonderful. I'm not sure I could do it, but I definitely admire those who do.

Enjoy the rest of the party!
