What Cricket read this week...

To go with Expedition Earth:
The Rainforest Race (Ready-To-Read Go Diego Go - Level 1) - Obviously we were lacking on "Venezuela" books. This easy reader was a simple book about Diego, but at least it was set in the Rainforest.

Living in Tropical Rain Forests (Life on the Edge) - This book was way too advanced for Cricket, but we enjoyed looking at the different pictures and talking about the general themes of the rain forest.

Pleasure Books:
Sesame Street Abby's First Book of Shapes -  This one was a board book, but Cricket picked it out from the library herself and I have a hard time saying no to those. It was good for reviewing some basic words and of course shapes.

Bridget's Beret by Tom Lichtenheld - Cricket loved all the different art work in this book, and I loved the various artists featured in the book. It was overall a really cute story.

Three by the Sea by Mini Grey - Cricket LOVED this book about the threesome of a cat, dog, and a mouse. It was a good book about friendship, acceptance, and making things work.

Emily's Magic Words: Please, Thank You, and More by Cindy Senning - This was a great book about all the different "magic words". Cricket responded well to the way it was written and it helped reinforced lessons I've been teaching.

That makes 183 books total so far for 2011. I highly recommend joining in at the Read to Me Picture Book Challenge.

  1. The Monster at the End of the Book was one of my very favorites when I was a child, but I don't think my children have ever read it - thanks for the reminder!

  2. What a great blog! :-) It looks like you and Cricket had a great reading week. I love perusing books with little ones "just for the pictures." So much learning happens!
